A Prayer Book, in a special binding, was sent to all these at Christmas, as a little remembrance from ‘their fellow Parishioners,’ and judging by the letters received, the gift has been much appreciated.

On Wednesday, December 30th, the wives and children of those ‘on service’ were invited to the Parish Room. The arrangements for their entertainment were undertaken and admirably carried out by Miss Radcliffe, to whom, and to those who assisted, hearty thanks were given.”

In defence of Right versus Might

The parish of Wokingham St Sebastian urged those young men eligible for army service to join up, and others to pray for them. Seventeen young men had already answered the call.

The War– a few thoughts.

Men are wanted at once in their country’s service, in defence of Right v. Might. A quick response may mean a shortening of the struggle and consequent saving of many lives. Are you, who read this, eligible for service? Make no mistake as to the reality and urgency of the need.

However hard it may be, try not to let anxiety destroy your capacity for usefulness, or prevent you carrying out your everyday duties better than ever.

Take your share in the work of Prayer. Don’t leave it all to others, but privately and also along with others in the ordinary or part, specially remembering those from the parish, viz:

Samuel Annets
Charles Chaplin
Walter Hurdle
Ernest Milam
Donald Prater
William Povey
Albert Rance
John Robertson
Frank Akers
Robert Collar
James Jewell
William Newman
Frederick Povey
Ernest Povey
Charles Readings
Edwin Tyrrell
Harry Tucker
